clay sculpture
Long Time No Blog
I haven’t written any blog on Blogspot and WordPress after back Edinburgh from China . I think it might be a reason for the phenomenon that the online traffic of CWW (www.challengesworldwide.com) got a bit of decrease recently. I felt sort of guilty actually. Sorry, my dear traffic.
I’d like to show something I got in China at the end of 2009. First thing I wanna show here is a clay sculpture I made 10 year ago. It was made during the summer holiday when I finished my high school. At the beginning, I tried to make according to my own head, but finally, I can not control the figure at all. I do not know who is it now.

Over 100 Clicks per Day
Finally, from last week, and this week, the clicks from Google Adwords platform has been over 100 per day.
What does 100click/day mean? In August, when I first time saw this Adwards account, the traffic for the whole week are 57 clicks. Over 10 times in 3 months. It seems that all the efforts we’ve done for CWW (http://www.challengesworldwide.com/) online campaigns work on their way.
Now, I am thinking about how my work on Google PPC and CWW’s business in relevant. Hannah told me that we got more applicants this month. But still I want to know how many applicants are generated by Googe Ads directly. The target of CWW is searching for the proper professional people to participant its project in developing countries. Actually, I do not know how and why these applicants got know CWW, from referring link? Google Ads, or recommend by friends? Who knows?
Another question is that why did they choose CWW? If they have more than one choice in their mind, why they choose CWW finally? Which aspect of CWW attracts them?
If I know the answers of the all the above questions, I think I could do these works with strong purpose of targeting the particular group. To add more campaigns on Google or post more position on Linkedin?

Last Friday, I suddenly thought about create a Wiki page for CWW (http://www.challengesworldwide.com/). Because, whenever I search some word on Google, the Wiki page often appears in the first line. Thus, I think to create a Wiki page may help CWW appears more.
Yep, we applied the account and try to edit the page for CWW.
…
…
…
Two days later, I found that our account is blocked for editing because of spam issue. It sounds like a joke for me.
Now my question is that whether Wiki help the SEO issues? Why CWW’s competitor holds its Wiki page but not blocked for editing?

Counting Days
Yep, I will go back to hometown next month, Now, I start to count the days. 31, 30, 29……Can not wait to enjoy the delicious foods and share wonderful night time with friends.
But before enjoying the holiday, I need to accomplish the work in Edinburgh first. I have submitted a proposal which include three joint power allocation and AMC transmission schemes for relay enhanced Power Line Communications to my supervisor. Hope I can got a positive response from my supervisor, thus, I can prepare to write the paper for the conference in 2010.
The next issue in Edinburgh is CWW. Fortunately, the Google Adwords data and Google Analytics data show that all the activities we’ve done for the online issues for CWW (www.challengesworldwide.com) seem positive. H is keeping updating the blog and posting jobs on Linkedin and Charity Jobs diligently. For me, the new campaigns added for PPC and modification of the description lines work as the restless ants. I believe the traffic from PPC will beyond 400 this week (the average traffic per week in Sept. and Oct. are 200, and about 60 clicks/week in Aug.).
Now, H and I are working on the link strategy making issues. Hope this new action will help us generate more clicks for CWW. As a charity body, to attract the people’s eye is not that easy. Especially, CWW operate do not charge its local partners. All the cost should be covered by volunteers themselves (why do I have to pay). How to persuade people to believe the participant is good for them is a big obstacle for us. Also a big difficulty for link request. Let’s see what will happen after the link strategy is done.
BTW, hope the mew sitemap could be work normally this week.

Blogger or WordPress, Competitor!
To be or not to be, it is not a problem for me. Coz I did not write anything on both blogs for two weeks.
But I never stop thinking about the SEO issue for CEE (www.challengesworldwide.com). During this period, I investigated the competitors’ website. To my surprise, the result is really different from what we assumed before.
Let introduce how I got the information of our competitor first. For anyone, he can view www.keywordspy.com. One can get a free trial account to get competitor’s key words (Organic words and PPC words), its most competitive websites, and Ads position by simply type in the domain name of the competitor.
Then, here, I will state the unique features of CWW’s competitors.
1. Our competitors are not all work hard on online marketing issues. For example, only 30% percent of them have the PPC keywords. It means that only 30% of them are using the keywords management platform such as google adwords, to bid their website.
2. Their some websites, such as Gumtree, facebook, become our most competitive online opponents, though they do not have any commonalities with ChallengesWorldwide on the operational level.
3. Some portal website such as transitionsabroad.com, volunteermatch.org, and volunteerabroad.com who provide the services for gap year planning, overseas volunteering opportunities, and travel planning are more competitive than the website who just focus on the charity issues.
The above are the features of CWW’s online competitor. The next thing for me is to think about how to fight with them online.

My First Blog on Blogger!
It is the first time I use a blog tool such as WordPress. It was introduced by one of my boss in CWW (http://www.challengesworldwide.com/). CWW, Challenges Worldwide is an international development charity and award winning social enterprise.
I work here as a volunteer on online marketing and operation from Aug 2009. Though I just worked here for one month, the atmosphere and the work content have attracted me so much. Friendly colleagues and ambitious target are the most two aspect that make me work here.
It is just a start, I will continue to update and share my experiences of working in CWW.
See U
This is the blog I quoted from my WordPress blog account (http://botancn.wordpress.com/). I will continue to update all these two blog!
